Library

Library is the heart of a school academic activities. It promotes individual and group learning, helps in developing students’ vocabulary, enhancing comprehension, developing the habit of silent reading and developing problem-solving attitude among students. It is not only the nerve centre of academic learning but also a good place to spend one's leisure time. It provides stimulation and inspiration to both students and teachers, develops an interest in subjects and widens the horizon of students.

The St. Thomas School Sahibabad Library enhances and supplements the curriculum. Priorities of our library are to foster a lifelong love of reading and to develop the necessary skills in students which would be required by them to foster their educational goals. The library's extensive collection of print, multimedia, and computerized resources is kept up-to-date and accurate. Activities like Book Clubs, Writers’ Forums, Literary Clubs, and Book Fairs are frequently organized by the school to foster and inculcate a love for reading. In addition, there are resource books for teachers to help them keep updated with new advancements in Education and their subjects. The goal of the school library is to ensure that all members of the school get equitable access to books. Students use the library for their research and project work as well. The library is fully digitized and accessible from all digital sources like mobile, computer, tablet, etc. The library uses EduNext software for its services. The library collection comprises over 6200+ books related to English and Hindi stories, reference books, biographies of well-known personalities, encyclopaedias, personality development, career counselling, sports and games, quiz, festivals, science projects, etc. There are approx. 100 reference subjects and 1000 textbooks of different classes. Around 400 books are added in each academic year. The library subscribed to 20 Magazines/Journals/Serials/Periodicals and 4 Newspapers i.e. India Today, Science Refresher, Competition Success, National Geographic, The Week, Pratiyogita Darpan, Children's World, Reader's Digest, Tinkle, वनिता, Magic Pot, Read & Colour, Science Reporter, G. K., Champak, चंपक, Sports Star, Tell Me Why, Wisdom, अक्कड़ बक्कड़, Living etc, The Times of India, The Hindu, दैनिक जागरण, Malayalam Manoharma The books and other library resources provide a welcoming and engaging environment for the school community. The library caters to the needs of 1100+ schoolers, 60+ faculty members, and other staff.

AIM & OBJECTIVES OF THE LIBRARY

  • To cultivate respect and love for the nation and its culture in the students.
  • To develop their interest in using the library for their overall development.
  • To inculcate the habit of seeking help from additional sources other than textbooks.
  • To provide a safe and welcoming space for students to study, read, and explore their interests.
  • To keep the teachers and management informed of the latest updates in the education sector.
  • To provide healthy material for recreational and entertainment purposes of students, teachers, and staff members.
  • To collaborate with teachers to support the curriculum, providing resources and materials that align with the topics studied in the classroom.
  • To organize user orientation and Information Literacy training programs for the promotion and optimum utilization of library resources and services
  • To promote literacy and a love of reading among students. This includes providing access to books and other reading materials that encourage reading for pleasure.
  • To provide a range of learning opportunities for both large and small groups as well as individuals with a focus on intellectual content, information literacy, and the learner.
  • To provide students with access to resources that support their academic success. This includes books, journals, and other materials that align with the curriculum and the learning needs of students.
